|Client:||42 Acres Retreat|
|Contract Period:||2019 – Present|
Mador Architects have designed a masterplan for the ecological transformation of a 100 acre site in Somerset. The scheme connects two historic estates in an Area of Outstanding Beauty in Somerset to create a retreat – hosting programmes exploring meditation, wellness and spirituality – and a high-end resort and restaurant embedded in a rewilded landscape. Guest experience across the site is embedded in and connected to soil, nature, and processes of wild tending and food cultivation. A wild spa on an island creates facilities for steam, sauna, treatment and swimming in the midst of a restored wetland habitat.
Mador Architects are leading a team of ecological, landscape and other designers in the creation of a groundbreaking combination of landscape restoration and luxury experience.
